FLOOD CAOS

The day the school sent my parents a message saying that school is closed till 31st I was really shocked because where ever I looked there was no water.  I was really happy too. Just then something struck me I remembered that we were living right next to a canal called klong tan.  I was wondering weather the water level would rise, but I really doubted that it would overflow.  I was really happy that school was closed.I thought that there would be no homework. I lay down on my sofa and I turned on the TV to watch WWE or a movie. When the TV turned on it was on a Thai news channel. They were talking about the major klongs that will be affected. In my mind i was hoping they wouldn't say klong tan, right then they said that Klong Tan will be flooded and the water levels are starting to rise. I was really scared. I told my parents this and that took immediate action. They started to store buckets of water. We went to many supermarkets but we did not get much food. At this stage we were all panicking. I wanted to watch TV but this time the TV was on CNN and they were talking about an earthquake in turkey. I didn't bother to take seriously. One fine night my dad came home and said “ I will be leaving to turkey in 3 days.”  I was speech less. It all seemed like it was all planed. I turn on the TV and hear that that floods will come to where we stay, then an earthquake in Turkey which my parents did not know about. That Sunday in church we were all talking about the floods. The lead pastor said “ we are setting up a flood donation box so if you want to give money to help flood victims then please donate some money. My parents donated money and we were happy about it. Later that Sunday we went to Food-land to buy some canned food. The whole shelf was empty there was almost nothing there. We then ran to the mall and bought a few canned food. When we looked at the news again that day we saw that the floods will come in 2 days. My dad was in a panic because he would not be here if the floods do come. So he rushed us to the airport (with no ticket) and did a last minute booking  and we got a flight to India the same day as me dad. In India we had no internet, but we did have 2 TV's. We came back 4 days before school reopened. When we were coming back home we could see that all most all the shops had cement walls or sandbags in front of the shop or bank(even 7-11). But there was no sigh of water near our house. We did see that the near the canal it was flooding. when you before i entered my soi i saw that many people left to another place. This was how the floods affected me.

  1. Nitin, I really like how this post flows like a story. With some transitions and more punctuation added in, it could be a clever little piece that reveals some important flood-related transactions. The quotes really add personality and detail. Have you gotten any word about whether or not your house has been affected? Are you and your family still abroad?

  2. Hey, Nitin. You're quite lucky that your dad did a last minute booking. I mean my dad had to go to the Philippines and wasn't here when the flood came. Still, we (when I mean we, I mean my family) got out in time before the major flood came. Even though some parts of this story was quite confusing due to the need of grammar mistake, not mentioning some obvious spelling mistakes (al = all). I hope you have a great time avoiding school.

(If you didn't know yet, the school is canceling all the holidays because the break was too long even though we still had homework to do. That's all)
